Glynn County, GA – Suspect Apprehended Following Hit-and-Run that Left Pedestrian Seriously Injured

Glynn County, GA (July 10, 2019) – A pedestrian was left seriously injured following a hit-and-run that took place on Saturday morning, July 6, and police have now arrested the driver involved. Authorities stated that the collision occurred at around 2:00 a.m. on Frederica Road, in the vicinity of Saint Clair Drive on Saint Simmons Island.

According to police, 19-year-old Rilyn Ellis, of Saint Simmons, was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. A passing motorist discovered Ellis laying in the roadway with serious injuries and immediately reported the incident. Emergency medical responders transported Ellis to the Southeast Georgia Health System- Brunswick Campus Emergency Department where he was listed in serious condition. Ellis was later taken to UF Health Jacksonville.

Authorities arrested Michael Harris, 19, of Saint Simmons, after locating him on Monday, July 8. He is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving serious injury.
