Guyton, GA – Child Killed in Fatal Crash at Highway 17 and Marlow Road

Guyton, GA (July 12, 2019) – In Effingham County, police reported that a child was killed in a fatal crash that took place at the intersection of Highway 17 and Marlow Road.

The accident took place on Wednesday night when a Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound trying to cross at the intersection. Police said that the Altima might not have stopped at the stop sign and instead pulled out in front of a Ford, which sent the Altima into a tree.

As the vehicle was rotating before striking the tree, two children, who were allegedly not buckled in correctly, were ejected from the Altima.

One of those children died in the accident. Six others were injured in the accident, including the second ejected child.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident at this time.
