Stephens County, GA (July 7, 2019) – The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has been investigating a boat collision that took the life of one man on Lake Hartwell.
According to police, the incident involved two vessels that collided with one another around 10 p.m. on Saturday night, July 6. It appeared that a small boat being operated by a man and his 6-year-old son was suddenly struck by a ski boat.
The child was luckily wearing a life jacket and did not receive injuries. A passenger on the ski boat was able to pull the child to safety. However, the operator of the boat and the child’s father was located in the water deceased.
The investigation continues at this time as those conducting it try to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
