Athens, GA – Woman Killed in Fatal Fire on Georgia Ave

Athens, GA (March 2, 2020) – Around 11:30 a.m., a woman was killed in a fatal fire on Georgia Avenue in Athens that did not cause injuries to other parties.

The house fire started in the morning hours and various responders were dispatched to the scene, including Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services Department. They responded knowing that there were people possibly inside the home.

The crew started to search for victims, which was when they found the victim deceased inside the home. Nobody else was injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
