Blue Ridge, GA – Fatal Car Accident on GA-5 Takes Child’s Life

Blue Ridge, GA (March 17, 2020) – On Sunday around 10:30 p.m., a fatal car accident took the life of a child on GA-5 around the area of GA-2.

At the time, a 2008 Ford Escape was stopped in the westbound lanes at the intersection. A Ford Super Duty truck was traveling west. The operator of the truck was identified as a 23-year-old man who was allegedly intoxicated at the time.

The driver struck the rear-end of the Escape. The front passenger of the Escape, identified as a 23-year-old woman, was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. There was a 2-year-old child in the back seat who was taken to the hospital and tragically pronounced deceased.

The driver of the escape was also seriously injured. Meanwhile, police discovered that the driver of the truck was driving intoxicated at the time.

Charges are pending as police continue their investigation.
