Bogart, GA (March 21, 2020) – Around 3:35 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, a fatal pedestrian accident took place on US-78 in front of the Georgia Square Mall.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department has since identified the victim as a 69-year-old man from Toccoa. He was allegedly walking from a parking lot toward a hotel when a commercial box truck struck him.
The victim was taken to the hospital but later died due to his injuries.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene of the accident. So far, they have not received any charges.
The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
