Elberton, GA (March 16, 2020) – Around 9 a.m. on Sunday morning, March 15, one person was killed in a fatal house fire that took place on Fortson Drive.
According to Elbert County authorities, the accident took place in a home in the early morning hours for reasons that are still being investigated.
A man was inside the home when fire crews arrived at the scene. Firefighters made efforts to get the victim out of the house but he had severe injuries. The victim later passed away at the Elbert Memorial Hospital.
Another individual was allegedly inside the home as well but was able to get to safety by crawling out of a window.
Various responders assisted at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
