Rome, GA (March 7, 2020) – Floyd County deputies and other responders assisted at the scene of a serious car accident on Shorter Avenue in Rome.
According to police, the collision took place between a silver passenger vehicle and a Floyd County ambulance and caused extensive damages in both vehicles. The ambulance had horrific front-end damages due to the collision.
Inbound and outbound lanes of traffic were closed down for a period of time, which heavily impacted traffic for several hours following the collision.
The driver of the ambulance and the driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries and were hospitalized. However, the extent of their injuries are not known.
The driver of the silver vehicle was charged with failing to yield for the ambulance.
Police continue their investigation into the accident.
