Augusta, GA – Worker Killed in Fatal Crash on River Road

Augusta, GA (July 17, 2019) – This afternoon, police arrived at the scene of a fatal crash that took place on River Road and took the life of an employee at Plant Vogtle.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office said that the driver had been headed east on River Road near the area of a new solar panel yard around 5 p.m. The driver allegedly suffered from a medical episode and left the road, where his vehicle struck several trees.

EMS was immediately called to the scene of the crash and took the driver to the Burke Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
