Chauncey, GA (July 5, 2019) – Police claim that the driver of a tractor-trailer is dead after his truck collided with a train in Dodge County on Wednesday of this past week.
Police claim that, at the time, the tractor-trailer was leaving a timber yard when the large truck drove over the train tracks on the highway. The train was passing through while the truck was crossing, which caused the train to strike the back of the vehicle.
The driver of the truck was identified as a 23-year-old man who was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter. Around 4 p.m., he was tragically pronounced deceased.
The Georgia State Patrol also confirmed that the conductor and engineer of the train were also injured but they are expected to be okay.
The investigation into the accident continues at this time.
