Valdosta, GA (July 14, 2019) – Around 11:30 p.m. on Friday night, police responded to a high-speed chase that ended on Knights Academy Road and led to the fatality of one individual.
Police claim that a 19-year-old man sped away from police initially due to a traffic violation. Once the vehicle ended up on Knights Academy Road, deputies used stop sticks so that they could pop the tires and stop the suspect.
At the time, they claim that the suspect was headed over 100 mph. Police say that, once the vehicle hit the stop sticks, it overturned and the parties inside were ejected.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. There is no word on their conditions at this time.
The Georgia State Patrol continues their investigation at this time.
