Bishop, GA – Fatal Plane Accident Off of Elder Rd

Bishop, GA (March 3, 2020) – The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a fatal plane accident off of Elder Road in Bishop.

The accident took place late this afternoon when a plane crashed close to the roadway with multiple passengers inside. According to police, the accident was incredibly violent.

The plane was identified as a Piper PA-46 which took off from the Athens area. Multiple victims inside lost their lives at the scene.

Police urged those in the area to avoid the scene for a period of time. Their investigation is currently ongoing.
