Conyers, GA (March 6, 2020) – Around 10:15 a.m. on March 5, injuries were reported in a car accident at the intersection of GA-138 and Flat Shoals Road in Conyers.
The Georgia State Patrol confirmed that the accident happened when a 29-year-old police officer was traveling through the intersection with his patrol lights on.
It was confirmed that the officer pulled through a red light, which is when his vehicle collided with a Ford F-250 pickup truck. The patrol vehicle then rotated and struck the front of a Mazda.
The officer was transported to the hospital with serious lower extremity injuries while the driver of the Ford pickup truck received minor injuries and was also hospitalized. The driver of the Mazda did not receive injuries.
State troopers continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
