Cumming, GA – Update: Pedestrian Identified After Accident on US-19

Cumming, GA (March 4, 2020) – On Monday, police confirmed that a pedestrian was injured in a serious accident on US-19. Now, the pedestrian has been identified.

Authorities confirmed that the pedestrian was a male in his 30s. He was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on GA-400 near the area of Hampton Park Drive around 9:45 a.m. in the morning.

Police confirmed that he started to walk across the roadway when he was suddenly struck by a passing vehicle.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the man awake and speaking with paramedics. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries but is expected to make a recovery.

Police also confirmed that the man was a surveyor in the area. However, there were no warning signs posted in the area to warn others that the survey crew was working.

The driver of the vehicle that struck him remained at the scene.

Traffic was blocked in the area for two hours. The investigation continues.
